Basswood is perfectly suited for CNC router machining or laser cutting/engraving and very popular for signs, trays or any project needing a beautiful natural wood.

It's pale white to light brown in color with indistinguishable sapwood and heartwood sections.  It has uniform straight, fine grain and even texture, with knots and other defects being uncommon.   It is easy to work, being very soft and light which makes it also one of the most suitable wood species for hand carving. It glues and finishes well and is best suited for indoor applications.
